I'm so flattered when I receive questions from my social media friends! Sarah sent me a message on Facebook and inquired about napkin folding ideas for a dinner party she's throwing for her husband's 45th birthday. You don't have to be an origami master to make a linen napkin feel extra special. Here is a classic and easy way to dress up your place settings!
Start by laying the napkin with monogram faced down in front of you.
Fold the napkin in half and then fold then napkin in half again.
The monogram should be in the right hand corner of your fold.
Now orient the corner with the monogram so that it is facing you.
Fold the top corner down towards the monogram.
Fold both the left and right sides back and underneath the napkin evenly to create the finished product.
There's nothing more elegant than a monogrammed linen napkin!
Also the Napkin Wizard, Jimmy Ng, was kind enough to share his sushi napkin technique which is featured in his book 'Creative Napkins & Table Settings.' The Sushi napkin fold looks good enough to eat. It’s a true conversation starter, especially when Japanese food is on the menu.
Fold the napkin into a triangle by lifting the bottom corner to meet the top corner.
Fold the top corner down until it meets the napkin’s bottom edge, creating a small triangle.
Fold the top section about 1/3 of the way down.
Fold the napkin in half.
Start at one end and carefully roll up the napkin.
Wrap ribbon around the rolled napkin to secure the end and place a small flower on top.
