Ginger beers is available in grocery stores, diet can be substituted. Ginger Ale is another option.. Look for a hand-crafted ginger beer made with lots of fresh ginger. We like Fever Tree and Maine Root ginger beer.
You can use fresh squeezed orange juice or tangerine juice instead of fresh cut wedges, they both work well.
Ingredients
- A cup of ice
- 2 ounces vodka
- 2 ounces fresh squeezed tangerine or orange juice
- 1 ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 cup club soda or seltzer water OR 1/2 cup of ginger beer (can use diet ginger beer or ginger ale or diet ginger ale)
- 1 piece of candied ginger for garnish
- 1 slice of tangerine or orange for garnish
- 1 sprig of mint for garnish
Instructions
1. Muddle mint and ginger, squeeze in wedge of orange or a splash of fruit juice if using rather than fresh fruit.
2. Add fresh lemon juice
3. Add vodka, and top with ginger beer or club soda.
4. Stir gently and garnish with candied ginger, citrus slice and sprig of mint
Other Variations:
- Maui-style - a splash of Pimm's No. 1 adds delicious herbal notes.
- Garden style - muddled blueberries, cucumber and mint create a garden of flavor.
