Queen Anne Style Wall Shelves
Deriving from the 18th century, and made particularly popular again during the 19th-century Victorian era, Queen Anne style furnishings and décor are valued today for their light and graceful structural compositions and the emphasis on comfort and functionality. Unlike styles originating from earlier design movements, Queen Anne style omits a great deal of ornamentation and embellishment in favor of elegantly detailed silhouettes; the sensuous cabriole leg, often with a ball-and-claw foot, simple decorative designs like the radial or shell motif, and curvilinear splats and skirts are exemplary of the refined yet effortless aesthetic of the style. Additionally, the use of quality hardwoods, such as cherry, maple and, most commonly, walnut, ensure that finishes are always rich and luxurious.
