The 2nd Annual James Beard Foundation’s Taste America will kick off its national 10-day culinary event series in Atlanta on September 12 and 13. This exciting two-day affair-a first for Atlanta-will feature a Friday evening benefit dinner at King Plow Event Gallery followed by a Saturday roster of free culinary demos, book signing and tastings at Sur La Table.
The series begins with “A Night of Culinary Stars” taking place on Friday, September 12 at King Plow Event Gallery. The evening will feature a tasting reception highlighting Atlanta’s finest chefs including Billy Allin, Ford Fry, Asha Gomez, Linton Hopkins and Kevin Rathbun. The tasting is followed by a four-course dinner designed and prepared by this year’s JBF Award Winner for Outstanding Restaurateur and Taste America All-Star Barbara Lynch, James Beard Award Winner and Local Star Anne Quatrano and Host Chef Todd Annis from Bold America Events. In addition to the formal event, Fifth Group Restaurants will host a “Taste of Fifth Group” at Studio 887 to provide additional support and donations for the Foundation. This concurrent tasting will showcase the executive chefs from their renowned restaurants and Bold America catering company as well as expertly crafted cocktails from beverage director Vajra Stratigos. All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Foundation’s educational and Awards programs.
