Summer is here and it’s so lovely to begin it celebrating Memorial Day.  A little history on this holiday: dating back to the Civil War, families would come together to visit fallen loved ones at cemeteries and memorials. On these hallowed grounds they would lay out blankets or tablecloths and gather together with friends and family to eat simple delicious dishes that were transportable and easy to eat in your lap. These “picnic” dinners often followed a religious ceremony memorializing those who died while serving in the Armed Forces.

Today Memorial Day is a federal holiday in which we remember all who have passed while in service for our country. Please join me in honoring our Heroes by putting together your very own picnic for your loved ones.  Here are some of my Perfect Picnic Picks to share with your family.
